Summer is Here!

Well, it’s been officially summer for about a week now and I’m ready for it to be gone. I can’t stand how hot it gets! It was 75 degrees out when I took Little Man to school at 8:30 this morning! Seriously?! Why so hot so early?! I’m not a person that likes wearing shorts that are much higher on my leg than my knee so maybe it’s just my weirdness but this weather needs to go.

Onto another topic that isn’t a rant about weather…Little Man is currently at his last day of school for this school year. Tomorrow, we have a meeting with his new teacher in his new classroom. Then in mid-July, he’ll go back to school in the two year old room. He’s starting to play with, hug, and talk to his little brother more. His speech has come so far since he got his tubes put in in March. He wants to know what everything is and what everything does. It’s just amazing to see him thriving and learning.

Squeaky is now six months old and busy as ever. He’s crawling, smiling, giggling, and babbling. He absolutely LOVES people and being held. When we take Little Man to school in the morning, Squeaky likes to sit and watch the kids play. Right now, he’s cuddled up to his daddy taking a nap. He loves his big brother and gets a big smile on his face when Little Man pays attention to him. He’s a little behind the weight curve but hopefully eating baby food will help him gain the weight he needs to gain.

I’m slowly working on my next book to review, but it is really hard to find time to read while taking care of two crazy kids. I’m about halfway through the book so it shouldn’t be too much longer before I do the review. My mom is coming up in a couple weeks so it’ll be fun to see her for a bit before we go down to her house in September. Little Man had swimming lessons this month and he did amazingly so we’re planning on going to the pool while my mom is up here. We’re also going to a cookout and the mall and the park…we have a lot of plans.

How has your summer been so far? What kind of things do you have coming up? Let me know!

I really need to start writing more often. It’s been a little over two months since I checked in last so let’s get started on the game of catch up.

Squeaky is now five months old. He’s rolling, scooting, and starting to rock on his hands and knees. He started baby food yesterday (sweet potatoes! YUM!) and is doing amazingly with it! He eats about an entire jar each time then nurses for about ten minutes and passes out for two or more hours at a time. He is just getting over an ear infection and has a doctor’s appointment coming up to check and make sure it is gone and to double check his weight. He only gained a pound in two months which is much less than ideal. I’m hoping that by increasing my healthy fat intake (since he’s breastfed) and feeding him some baby food will help him gain the weight he needs to gain. I REALLY don’t want to switch him to formula. It stinks and it takes too much extra work to prepare. I’ve almost gotten him registered for Early Head Start and he’ll start once there’s an opening and he’s a year old (so like next January).

Little Man had his ear tubes put in at the end of March. Those things have been the best thing ever in his life. He talks all the time now and it’s actual words, not just jibber jabber. He can identify about ten letters based on how they look, he knows how to count to ten, and he sings his ABC’s. Plus, he knows a few animal sounds and keeps learning more everyday. Sadly, I think he’s getting to that age where he doesn’t nap anymore. But he is making friends very well, he knows their names and asks me about them constantly. Early Head Start is going to be going on summer break soon and when they go back, Little Man will be in a new class. Luckily, his teachers from last school year (2014-2015) will be his teachers next year (2016-2017) so hopefully he’ll be fine with the new classroom.

I have joined a website called Blogging For Books. Basically, you sign up for an account (completely free!) and order books, which are completely free AS LONG AS you review the books on your blog and on their website. At least that’s how I understand it. So be looking out for my first review, I’m quite excited about the book I got. Other than that, everything is going as it has been.

As a family, we have a family get together this weekend that I’m excited about. It’s to celebrate my husband’s grandparents’ anniversary and my husband’s cousin and her husband are coming in from Hawaii. We haven’t seen them since Thanksgiving of 2014, so it’ll be nice to see them again.

That’s all that’s going on around here. My next update should be coming up soon and will be my book review. See you all later!

This Is It…

Wow! So I have been gone for quite a while, but I have good reasoning! We have no WiFi as of right now, so I’m hurrying to type this using my mobile data. Also, Squeaky was born! His birth story will be posted later at some point. He’s doing great though and Little Man is adjusting very well (better than I thought he would) to having a little brother and we’ve been able to keep our daily routine about the same (luckily).

Little Man still goes to school on a daily basis. His teething hasn’t eased much since November, but I’ve figured out why. He has about 8 teeth trying to come in at the same time, they’re all about halfway in and his mouth looks so weird. Any time he’s talking and I see his molars, I still think he has something in his mouth even though it’s just teeth. He’s learning more words and remembering people very well. His second birthday party is at the end of this month, so I’m currently working on planning that.

I have been busy, considering I have a toddler and a newborn now. For some reason that I’m sure I’ll regret later, I decided to hand make the invitations to Little Man’s birthday party. His grandma has volunteered to buy the decorations and his great aunt is making the cake. I can’t wait to see it all together.

Squeaky is 7 weeks old today. He’s gained more weight than needed so that’s great. His only issue right now is sleeping in his own bed, but he’s starting to sleep there more. I just need to figure out the perfect time after he’s asleep to lay him in his bed.

I’m going to try to post weekly, since I’m going to be starting a bullet journal. I’ll be back next week (hopefully)!

October

I can’t believe it’s already mid-October! I don’t think time EVER went this quickly before I had a child, now it seems like I blink and it’s been 6 months! With it being October, all things Halloween (and some Christmas? Stupid Walmart.) have started to appear. Pinterest is LOADED with Halloween costumes, party ideas, pumpkin carvings, all SORTS of stuff! The only things I’m looking forward to this October are:

  1. Hocus Pocus is on NINE times this year on 13 Nights of Halloween on ABC Family!
  2. This will be Little Man’s first year trick or treating and he is going to be Batman!
  3. I’m two months away from my second little guy arriving!

Other than those things, Halloween seems overdone to me. The excuse that girls (women, ladies, whatever term you use) have that it’s a holiday to dress slutty irritates me to death. This Buzzfeed post cracked me up when I read/looked at it. I could honestly see girls dressing in these costumes just because it’s Halloween! I’m more like the Cady Heron (#MeanGirlslove) of Halloween.

To update on what has been going on since I updated last…Little Man’s language skills have progressed SO much! He says at least 20 words and is able to see something and know what it is, either by name (dog or car) or sound (meow or neigh neigh). He is able to tell us what he wants more, which is an AMAZING help instead of him just yelling because I’m not giving him what he wants. He still will not eat potatoes, except in french fry form.

This past weekend, we took him to a local zoo and he had LOTS of fun. He got to pet some goats (he called them “neigh neighs” but close enough, right?), we saw a giraffe and an elephant from about five feet away, and he absolutely LOVED seeing the fish. Plus, he got to ride on his daddy’s shoulders so he was quite excited about that.

He spotted the elephant! (It went out and came back in)

Playing in a crate that is used to ship elephants (sad story I know!)

He was sick at the beginning of this month and he’s still coughing (mostly when he wakes up in the morning or from a nap). It makes me so sad to have him sick but it doesn’t seem to be bothering him.

As for the new baby (still unnamed), everything is as it should be at the 29 weeks I’m at. Hes growing like he should, moving a lot more than I remember Little Man moving, and causing heartburn for me left and right.

It’s getting late and I’m hungry so I better go make something before bed. I’ll let everyone know how trick or treat went around the first of the month, but hopefully I’ll be updating before that.

It’s Been A While…

I did not think that being pregnant and having a toddler would be this difficult! It is crazy! On days when Little Man goes to early head start, I sleep. I don’t even mean to, I have a list of things set to do and they never get done because I just pass out. Hopefully, that will pass soon since I’m heading into month 6 of pregnancy. On August 13, we found out I am pregnant with another boy and as of right now, he is still nameless. I am hoping a name will come before the little one is born, but I don’t think it’s looking too good at this point. That may just be my intense need of having everything planned months in advance though…

Onto more crazy topics, considering I will be MASSIVE this fall, I’m trying to put together an ideal outfit that I have in my head. I am having ZERO luck with finding the pieces for said outfit for relatively cheap, so if any of you know where I can find a long sleeved button up (down?) shirt dress and a pair of tall boots for under $20 each, PLEASE let me know! I would like them both to be relatively neutral colors and solid prints.

I’m not sure if it will start this month or next, but I will be writing as a Resident Mom for Skinny Mom. I am really excited to begin this journey and I cannot wait to see what happens with it. Also occurring either this month or next, I will begin taking classes to become a certified child care provider! I’m not sure if that’s the exact term used, but it works. I have a meeting in the middle of the month to learn more about the classes, so I’ll be able to further update then.

I don’t know about you all but I am ready for Thanksgiving. I’m ready to eat crazy amounts of food at my husband’s grandma’s house and see Little Man start to understand the importance of family togetherness. He’s learning very quickly, he uses actual words now, and he follows directions very well. He is progressing perfectly for an 18 month old and I couldn’t be more happy.

How did summer treat you? Are you still having crazy weather like we are?! It’ll be about 60 in the morning then 90 in the afternoon. It’s pure insanity. I am so ready for fall! I’ll see you all soon!

Here Comes Peter Cottontail…

WOW! I haven’t written in almost a month! That is OUTRAGEOUS! Life is super busy with a one year old. Let’s get on with the updates!

At the beginning of this month, we took Little Man to see the Easter Bunny. He was NOT happy at all. The photographer got a progression of his emotions.

Crying...

Crying…

Recovering...

Recovering…

Grumpy...

Grumpy…

We ended up getting the grumpy face picture printed off. He looks so sad in all of them, we figured that one was the least pathetic. Easter weekend wasn’t as busy as I thought it would be, which was great.

Little Man now laughs at the most random things, fake laughs, stands by himself for long periods of time, and is working on drinking out of a regular sippy cup. He hasn’t grasped the fact that it has to be tipped up. Oh! Something super exciting should be starting any day now. He’ll be starting early head start! I’m super excited for him to learn and be around kids his age. He’s only ever around me and he doesn’t know what to do around kids. Early head start has a weird schedule though. They get one week off for Christmas, one week off for Spring Break, and a four day weekend for Thanksgiving like other schools but they only get two weeks off in the summer! I find that crazy, but kinda cool.

I’ve been watching a lot of Netflix lately, mostly movies and Grey’s Anatomy. Yes, I’m aware of what happened. Y’all just need to get over it. I have a list a mile long of the shows I want to watch on Netflix. The list is:

  1. Grey’s Anatomy (currently on season 6)
  2. Private Practice
  3. Fringe (currently on season 4)
  4. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
  5. Gilmore Girls
  6. Lost
  7. Friends
  8. Gossip Girl

That’s all I have so far. I’ve heard Orange Is The New Black is good but I’m not sure yet. I’m hoping none of these shows get taken off of Netflix before I get to the or get to finish them. That would be TERRIBLE!

How was your Easter weekend? Do you have any suggestions of shows or movies that I should watch on Netflix? Let me know! đŸ™‚

Colors of the Wind

(This is my first post from the WordPress app so hopefully this will turn out well)

Hello there folks! How’s December treating you? We’re doing pretty good here. Little Man is sleeping, the husband is playing a video game and I’m watching Netflix. Have you ever seen Fringe? OMG, it’s a CRAZY show.
Little Man has been Disneybounding every time we go somewhere.

By the way, the burrito in the second picture is just cheese rolled up and melted in a tortilla.
Little Man had his 9 month checkup and a flu shot today. He did great with the shot, he didn’t cry until the doctor already had the needle in and he stopped crying when I picked him up. He’s growing up so fast. I can’t believe I’m already planning his first birthday party. How is it that one year can pass so quickly sometimes and so slowly other times?!
This weekend coming up, we are getting pictures with Santa (wish us luck on that) and we’re attending a family Christmas party with family I’ve never met. I’m really bad in those situations so I’m hoping I’ll be able to be social at least once.
What are your plans for the weekend? Have you tried Disneybounding? Let me know in the comments below!
