Colors of the Wind

(This is my first post from the WordPress app so hopefully this will turn out well)

Hello there folks! How’s December treating you? We’re doing pretty good here. Little Man is sleeping, the husband is playing a video game and I’m watching Netflix. Have you ever seen Fringe? OMG, it’s a CRAZY show.
Little Man has been Disneybounding every time we go somewhere.

By the way, the burrito in the second picture is just cheese rolled up and melted in a tortilla.
Little Man had his 9 month checkup and a flu shot today. He did great with the shot, he didn’t cry until the doctor already had the needle in and he stopped crying when I picked him up. He’s growing up so fast. I can’t believe I’m already planning his first birthday party. How is it that one year can pass so quickly sometimes and so slowly other times?!
This weekend coming up, we are getting pictures with Santa (wish us luck on that) and we’re attending a family Christmas party with family I’ve never met. I’m really bad in those situations so I’m hoping I’ll be able to be social at least once.
What are your plans for the weekend? Have you tried Disneybounding? Let me know in the comments below!

History Is Made At Night

It has been a busy week in this household. Let me tell you what’s been up…

Little Man is growing and developing mentally and physically like crazy. He now crawls, stands while holding things, stands without holding things (if he’s distracted by a puppy and has no clue he’s standing), and feeds himself finger foods.

His grandma gave him all sorts of food when we visited her after her double knee replacement surgery!

He used his grandma's walker to stand...he used it like all evening.

I got a new phone!!! My iPhone 4 (yes, just a 4 no S or G) was two years old and slow as all hell, so when my upgrade rolled around we jumped on it like…like…something that jumps on other things. I am now the proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S4, it’s HUGE compared to my iPhone 4 but it’s great! I’m about to be planning things like crazy. We’ll be having a home photo shoot for our first ever Christmas card, I have to photoshop the picture we choose (hopefully not, but I have an 8 month old so anything could happen), gather addresses of family and friends, and make and order the Christmas cards. While I’m waiting for their arrival, I need to plan out Little Man’s Disneybound December (details in a future post), start planning Little Man’s first birthday party more (we have a menu, venue, and date! YAY!), and I’m sure there is more that I’m forgetting. My 24th birthday falls in late January, but I am not planning anything for that. On top of all the planning I’ll be doing, I have an adult Christmas party with my husband, a family Christmas party, and two family Christmas dinners (at least) to attend. The holiday season (especially Christmas) has been the busiest time for my husband and I the last two years and I expect this year to be no different…well, except for the amount of presents we’ll be bringing home now that we have a spoiled son (he’s the first grandchild on both sides…kinda).

This is probably what I'll look like until March...minus the hair and the makeup being done.

This post is a LOT longer than I had hoped, oh well, you’ll live. OH! Anyone have any ideas of food to serve at a How To Train Your Dragon themed birthday party? We thought of spicy foods, but there will be children in attendance so that idea is out the window. Let me know! See you back here later!

Last Friday Night

Little Man and I had a super busy weekend. My best friend and my mom were both in town (not together of course), so we had to visit with them. The crappy weather of the weekend was not about to ruin my good time!

Thursday night, we met up with my best friend Tera and went shopping…well, window shopping since we only actually bought peppermint hot chocolate and a muffin at the coffee shop in Books A Million.

I have no idea why it's so bright! Stupid Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

Friday night, my youngest brother had his senior night for marching band so we stayed for the whole football game. Little Man seemed to like it, except for when he got hungry of course.

We were very bundled up!

Saturday, we got lunch, went shopping, and had dinner with my mom and two brothers. Little Man stole a chicken wing from my plate at lunch (no, I didn’t let him keep it long enough to get to the bone), slept for an hour while we shopped, and had some green beans at dinner so he had a good time (he loves food).

Yep, we wore matching shirts.

Today, we cleaned, took naps, and watched movies so we spent the day in our pajamas.

Happy November everyone! It’s already a crazy month and it just started! My mom (who lives in Tennessee) and my best friend (who lives in South Carolina) both told me they had snow today! That’s NUTS!

Anywho, we had a busy Saturday today! First, we stopped by Walmart and hit up their 50% off candy sale.

No, it's not his. We gave it to him to play with while we shopped.

Then we took the baby to one of his grandma’s houses.

Apparently exploring Grandma's makes him thirsty. He can hold his bottle, he's just lazy.

Then we went to my cousin’s daughter’s (she’d be Little Man’s third cousin or something like that) first birthday party, where he met the newest baby of the family.

They were "talking" to each other for about 20 minutes!

After we left the party, we stopped by my aunt’s to pick up some stuff.

Partying wears them out.

When we got home, the baby went right to bed without crying. He must not have napped enough. Then, I came to tell all of you about our day. How was your first day of November? Let me know in the comments below! See you soon!

Secret Love

Well, it’s Thankful Thursday on the October Blogging Challenge. There are 3 Thankful Thursdays scheduled for this month so this one will be about the people I’m thankful for.

I’ll be like every parent here, but I’m seriously thankful for my son. His smile and silly personality brighten my whole day. He’s the most curious baby I’ve ever seen. Any time we go somewhere new, he has to look around and figure out what everything is as soon as we get there. He’s starting to crawl now, so I’m about to get the most exercise of my life!

This is how he watches me play games on my phone.

This is how he watches me play games on my phone.

I’m very happy to have the husband I have. He’s my best friend and we are like peas and carrots (I love Forrest Gump), by themselves they’re pretty good but they’re even better together. We laugh at the same jokes, watch the same movies, play the same games, everything.

My brother is my long time best friend. He’s been my best friend for almost 21 years (he’ll be 21 in February). We text each other all day about any and every thing. The other day, he willingly went to the grocery store with me so I could get baby food. Who does that?! My brother, that’s who.

The last (but not least) person I’m enormously thankful for is my only girl best friend, Tera. Yes, she lives like 10 hours away and works like a million jobs (I’m kidding) but we text whenever she gets a free chance. We can send each other shocking things about tv shows that the other has seen (that freaking Happyland episode?!), movie lines, or just about the random weirdness we experienced that day. We send pins on Pinterest and we snapchat too so we’re very social with each other.

Who are you thankful for? Let me know and come back for tomorrow’s post of the day!

What Means The Most

My blog will be a month old tomorrow so I’ve decided that I’m going to do a little monthly review every month. When I started this, I didn’t think I’d get any views or followers. I mean, I hoped like everyone does, but I didn’t set my hopes too high. As of right now, I have a total of 74 views and 13 followers! To any and all readers, THANK YOU! I get excited every time I get an email about another follower or like. A few days ago (Thursday to be specific), this blog went international with its first view in Canada! Today, there have been 2 views in INDIA! It feels awesome to be able to have readers spread so far! Again, THANK YOU ALL! This is my tenth post too! Lots of celebrating over here!

Yesterday, I said I’d write about my brothers today since I’ve started talking about them more. I’m the oldest of three and the only girl and we are basically three years apart (I’m 3 years and 12 days older than Mack and he is 2 years, 10 months and 18 days older than Bryan). We’re 23, 20, and 17 respectively. We used to fight like CRAZY when we were in the older kid/teenager phase, but now that we’re all practically adults, we get along amazingly.

We're strange...

We’re strange…

Mack is my best friend, he ranks over my husband and my best friend Tera by far. I mean, he is my brother after all. We enjoy most of the same things, movies, music, people we can and can’t stand, pretty much everything. I’m sure he’ll have some opinions about my last post, everyone has their own thoughts after all. He is the person I text all day long (even though he only lives 4 blocks away), he’s the first one I tell about all my blog news, we have a movie marathon coming up where we’ll hopefully just sit in front of the TV, watch movies, eat snacks, and complain/sing/talk throughout every movie we watch. Of course, we’ll quote and sing along with the movies too, we’re not crazy.

Bryan is the baby of the family so naturally, we pick on him more than each other. Since he’s gotten older, he’s come up with great comebacks. He has the most nicknames of anyone I’ve ever met in my entire life, some of which Mack and I can’t remember the origin (once we called him Sheryl Crow?). He is currently a senior in high school and has been applying to colleges like crazy. I wish I had the desire to go to college like he does. He plays saxophone (don’t ask me which kind, it changes from season to season) in the marching and jazz bands and the senior night for his marching career is coming up on November 7. I’ll probably be writing about it and how much I cried because my baby brother is a SENIOR. At his graduation in May, I’ll probably be a complete WRECK!!!

Well, now you all know how much I thank you and how much I love knowing that people actually read what I have to say. Feel free to give feedback, heck, I’ll even take negative comments or disagreements. That just shows that you read the post! 🙂 I’ll be back tomorrow with the next day of the blogging challenge.

People, Let Me Tell Ya ‘Bout My Best Friend

Look at me writing another post sooner than I did last time! Yes I realize how strange the title is, but if you knew me (or if you keep reading this blog) you’d totally understand the weirdness and possibly learn to love it.

Obviously, I’m gonna tell you about my best friend…other than my husband and my brother. We’ve only been friends for almost 3 years and it has been amazing, if I do say so myself (and I do).

A little bit of backstory for you, in the 2011-2012 school year we both attended what is possibly the smallest university I’ve ever seen and lived in the same dorm building, heck her room was right next to my high school best friend’s room! But we didn’t meet until December of 2011, the 8th to be exact. I had originally gone to her room to study with her roommate (my lab partner) for a final we had the next day. It was a Thursday night (anyone who went to college knows what happens on Thursdays) and my lab partner was one of those worrisome mom types, meaning she had to make sure everyone was alright when they got back from parties and what not. Well, she pretty much left me in her room with her roommate (whom I’d never met before in my life). I had debated going back to my dorm to study done I already knew what was going on on the final and didn’t need to study (I had an A in class), but then we started talking about weddings and Pinterest and that’s where it all began.

That night we watched movies I’d never seen and spent until the morning talking, laughing, and finding out how much we were alike. The winter semester ended the next week but we continued talking over break and the next semester we were practically inseparable. We had three classes together, ate all of our meals together, and hung out as much as possible.

After the year ended, neither of us went back to that college. She was three hours away from home, so she went to a college closer to her house and I never went back to college. We still found time to get together and I even went on vacation with her family last year. She is an honorary aunt to my son and the person I text when I just need to rant or get a silly idea out of my head.

Last month, she moved to South Carolina and she told me today that she’s feeling super homesick so I wrote this post to let her know this:

You are an amazing, beautiful, gracious person. You deserve to be happy and live your life whether it be here, there, or in Paris. I’m not saying it’ll be easy all the time but it does get easier. At one point, you’ll probably even feel like you don’t ever want to come home because you love where you are and that’s okay! Just know I love you best friend and I miss you everyday.

Love, me 🙂
