When You Look Me In The Eyes

Today is the last day of September meaning it’s the last day of the September Blogging Challenge. If you’d like to do the October Blogging Challenge, click here. Today’s topic is 30 random facts about yourself so let’s go!

  1. My birthday is in winter but I hate wintertime.
  2. I’m a natural redhead and I’ve heard almost every joke about it (if you think you have a new one, comment. I like a good joke.).
  3. When I was younger, I wouldn’t have pictured my life the way it is now.
  4. I’ve lived in Germany and used to speak fluent German. I can only count to ten in German now.
  5. Because I lived there, I can’t donate blood, something about the possibility of mad cow disease (even though it was 20 years ago).
  6. I’m 5 feet 11 inches and I’ve actually met females taller than me.
  7. I’m the oldest but shortest of my blood siblings.
  8. My best friend is 5 feet 2 inches and I don’t think the height difference has ever phased us.
  9. I attended one year of college at West Liberty University and hate that I never went back.
  10. I’m 23 and I love Disney movies. Anna from Frozen could seriously be me (but I’m not gonna sue anyone like that one lady is doing).
  11. I have a hard time getting motivated to do lots of things.
  12. My two favorite beverages are Dr. Pepper and chocolate milk (not together of course).
  13. I hate having ice in my drink when I go out to eat. Just so you know, the drink comes out of the machine at a cool enough temperature and water dilutes the drink.
  14. A lot of small things about people anger me, which makes me not be able to stand those people for long periods of time.
  15. I’m planning on Disneybounding myself and my son for the month of December. Don’t know what Disneybounding is? Click here. More on that toward the end of November.
  16. I LOVE Stargate SG-1, not obsessive love but I could probably watch it over and over again.
  17. Romantic comedies are my favorite type of movie.
  18. My favorite animal is a penguin. I wanted to do my son’s room in a penguin/ice blue/gray theme but I wasn’t able to.
  19. I’ve never paid for my own car.
  20. I count Burger King as my first job even though I had one before it.
  21. I still listen to music that I listened to in high school.
  22. I make a lot of lists.
  23. I start planning things extremely early.
  24. I like being early to things (but thanks to my husband, we hardly ever are).
  25. I love how well my son is developing but sometimes I wish he wasn’t able to move himself around again.
  26. I’ve dated a few guys that I probably shouldn’t have but I don’t regret it because I believe that everything happens for a reason.
  27. I hope to be a wedding planner or interior designer sometime in my life.
  28. I love weddings but I’ve only been to 3 and I was in all of them.
  29. I’m currently working on watching about 5 tv series’s on Netflix.
  30. I’m a horribly judgmental person (at least I admit it).

Feel free to comment on any of these facts! See you tomorrow for the new challenge!

The Little Things

iHola! It’s a new day, meaning it’s time for another post from the September Blogging Challenge! In my head, I say that in one of those epic announcer voices…just so you know. Today’s topic is the 10 things that make you the happiest. This is a bit difficult because I don’t really think about what makes me happiest, it just does. From number two on aren’t in any certain order.

Number one would have to be my son’s adorable face, even if he is making a strange face (see pictures). Although, most parents say that their child’s face brightens their day but my kid is seriously adorable, I’m probably slightly biased.

The second thing that makes me happiest is movie marathons with my brother. We are currently planning one right now, however, there are only two movies on the list so far. It’s great to be able to watch movies that you’ve seen a million times with someone who has also seen them a million times, no one gets mad if they miss a part or can’t hear over the quoting/singing.

Third, my son going to bed without crying makes me pretty stinking happy. Tonight is the first time this has happened, so it’s a new happiness.

Sales at my favorite stores when I have money is the fourth thing that makes me happy. I think that makes everyone happy though! I mean, who doesn’t love getting a shirt that you’ve always wanted but hadn’t been able to because it was out of your price range?!

I get very happy when I’m able to spend time with my husband. Lately, we’ve been watching movies that one of us hasn’t seen or I’ll watch him play a new video game he got. We used to go to about one movie a month and go out to meals at different places, but having a baby changed that a bit so we stay home. Us getting time together is the main thing.

WOOT! I’ve passed the halfway mark! I really love Chinese food, so I get pretty happy when I’m able to have some good Chinese. Vegetable lo mein, chicken and broccoli, and peanut butter chicken are my absolutely favorites. It was the only food that I was able to keep down during that HORRIBLE time of “morning” sickness in pregnancy. I’ll have to express my feelings on “morning” sickness in another post. I’m sure anyone who has been pregnant (and possibly their partners) are totally on my side.

Hmmm…I need four more things that make me happy. OH! Nice, long, refreshing, hot showers make me very happy. Again, anyone with a child knows how great it is. I sing super loud during these times, just because I CAN!!!

Being able to write down my thoughts and everything here makes me pretty happy too. It’s great to get it all out and have a bunch of AWESOME people read it!

Listening to my favorite music is great! Last year, when iOS 7 came out, I lost everything I had on my phone. I’m finally getting some music back now but I get a new phone in November so I’ll have to do it all over again then. Ugh.

Last one…hmmm…people with a sense of humor make me happy. I’ve only met a few people that didn’t have senses of humor and meeting them as awful. I think you should be able to laugh at everything that’s supposed to be funny!

There ya go guys, the 10 things that make me happiest. Come on back tomorrow for another post! See ya later!

Crush

It’s that time again, readers! Time for another post from the September Blogging Challenge! Today’s post is celebrity crushes…this MIGHT turn into a VERY VERY long post. I think a lot of men in Hollywood are GORGEOUS! I’ll try to put it down to my top five…maybe…

My number one favorite celebrity crush ever is Justin Timberlake. I was a huge NSYNC fan, but I wasn’t in love with Justin like every girl in America. I liked Joey (post red hair), Chris (during the braid era), and Lance (the entire time). My mom thought JC was “a cutie” but that’s an entirely different story. Back to Justin, ironically (maybe? I don’t know if it is or not) I just watched all the videos of him on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night. As a singer, I still scream the lyrics to Cry Me A River and Rock Your Body but I started loving him as an actor in 2000 when he was in Model Behavior, but I REALLY fell in love with his acting in 2011, in Friends With Benefits. He and Mila Kunis have amazing chemistry in that movie and I’ve seen it close to 1,000 times. I’m totally serious. Watch it.

If you don't already know, this is Justin Timberlake.

Ryan Reynolds is a beautiful man and an awesome actor. Can we just talk about the first time he is shown in National Lampoon’s Van Wilder? My jaw dropped! For fellow Ryan lovers, watch this movie…the uncensored version of course. Waiting… is a wonderfully hilarious movie, his asshole character just makes the movie. In Definitely, Maybe every emotion comes out. Seriously people, if you don’t love this man watch these movies and your mind will be changed. If you need more convincing, watch The Proposal, Green Lantern, and The Change-Up. If you still don’t love him, then I’m sorry about your bad taste in actors.

What can I say about Terrence Howard? Most of his filmography (that I’ve seen), he’s pretty much an ass but that’s what makes him great in those roles. I first saw him in The Jacksons: An American Dream, where he plays adult Jackie Jackson. It’s a smaller role but he is great to look at and has a good amount of screen time so it’s great. Pride was a very inspirational movie, I can’t explain the awesomeness of that movie. Just do yourself a favor and watch it. In the Best Man movies, he’s a bit of an ass but there has to be one in every movie, right? Don’t even get me started on The Butler. While looking through his filmography, I’ve realized I need a Terrence Howard movie day.

So I’ve only seen a few things that Jake Johnson is in, but that doesn’t stop him from being an amazingly hilarious and good looking guy. I would call him handsome but I feel like that’s an old fashioned word and I never say it so why type it? ANYWAY, can we talk about the Dodge Dart commercials he is currently in with Craig Robinson?! I die laughing every time I see one. While I feel the movie Drinking Buddies was a bit of a flop, the TV show New Girl is amazing. I’m currently working on season 3, so please don’t tell me any spoilers…although I’ve read a bit ahead. Yeah, I’m one of THOSE people.

Jake Johnson (I think I have a thing for beards...)

This will be my last one. I’ve only seen one thing he’s in but it is amazing! James Lafferty plays Nathan Scott, one half of my favorite ever TV couple in One Tree Hill. If you haven’t watched this show and have the time to dedicate to 188 one hour long episodes on Netflix, I strongly recommend you do it. I’m still working on season 8 but I’m almost done and it is probably the best show I’ve ever seen.

James Lafferty (yep, definitely love facial hair)

Those are my celebrity crushes, what are yours? Let me know any opinions on the actors, tv shows, and movies I mentioned. Stay tuned for a bonus post tonight!

I Do

Bonjour! Parlez-vous français? No? Good, me either. Happy Friday everyone! In honor of it being Friday, here’s a Flashback Friday picture.

Continuing the September Blogging Challenge, today is my top 5 favorite hobbies/pastimes. This is a tough topic, but not as difficult as yesterday’s was. These aren’t in any specific order.

First, I love listening to music. I recently reloaded my iPod so I’ve been rocking out a lot more than usual. Right now, it’s only got a few singers and soundtracks but it’s more than it had for the last year. I like all kinds of music from First of the Year by Skrillex to First Time in Forever from Frozen (I feel that’s a HUGE range).

My second favorite hobby is playing with my 6 month old son. He’s right at the age where he giggles at the smallest things that happen and his little laugh is super contagious.

Third, I love writing. I don’t get much of a chance anymore but when I was about 16 or so, my brother and I used to write fanfiction like crazy. We would post a new story almost week. If you’d like to read the one I wrote, click here. It uses the characters of Grey’s Anatomy and puts them in high school.

My fourth favorite hobby would have to be watching movies. My DVD collection contains about 50 movies, most of which I bought myself (thank you $5 bin at Walmart) but some were given to me as gifts for Christmas or my birthday. My brothers and I used to have movie marathons every weekend when we all still lived with our dad. I’ll be writing a post about my brothers probably tomorrow so you can put faces to them.

My last and final favorite hobby is playing game apps on my phone and tablet. I have an iPhone and an Android tablet so I’m able to get any app that looks interesting to me. Right now, I’m addicted to Angry Birds Go! and like most smartphone owners, Candy Crush. The only time I’m really able to play is when the baby is sleeping but I fully take advantage of that time.

Asleep at his grandma's yesterday.

Only 4 days left of the blogging challenge, but hopefully this week of writing will help my creative juices flow and I’ll be able to add a post everyday. So let me know, what are your favorite hobbies/pastimes? I’ll be back here tomorrow to write the next installment of the challenge and possibly write a second post about my brothers.

They Write Books About This Sort Of Thing

Aloha everyone! It’s been a crazy Thursday but I couldn’t skip my daily blog post! Today’s topic is what I’m currently reading. My reading list consists of blogs, novels, and children’s books.

For some reason, I can’t remember the book I just read to my son no more than 15 minutes ago! The saddest part is I’ve read it like 20 times since he got it for Easter! Another favorite is I Love You, Mummy, I’m not sure of the author but it’s a relatively good book. We also read “interactive” books, you know the ones with the patches of “fur” for the child to touch.

I’ve been stuck to two blogs since I found them. Team Studer is written by a lovely woman named Tabitha, I found her blog through Pinterest and have followed it ever since. Then there’s Girl Meets Life, where I found the September Blogging Challenge, it’s fairly new to me but Gracie seems like the type of person I could read more about.

I’ve been working on the Oz series by L. Frank Baum for a very long time now. I’m on the second book of 14, so I’m not doing very well with them. My brother guaranteed me that it’s an amazing series plus I’ve always wondered what the movie didn’t show. Plus the play Wicked makes me curious too, so I may need to start reading again.

That’s all I’ve been reading, taking care of a 6 month old doesn’t really allow for much reading. What have you all been reading? I’d love to hear! See you tomorrow everyone!

I Work Out!

It’s now September 24, meaning it’s time for another day of the September Blogging Challenge. Today’s topic is “what is your favorite form of exercise and why?”. I’ll admit, this one tripped me up a bit. I’ve never been a big fan of exercising, so this post has a LOT of thought put behind it. I was lucky enough lose all the pregnancy weight I gained without having to do much (thank you genetics). By the way, I realize that’ll be more difficult with the more children I have.

I’ve decided there are two forms of exercise I like, since they’re really the only two “exercises” I do on a daily basis. First, I love carrying around my little man. This is substantial exercise because his butt weighs about 18 pounds which is more than I ever carried for a long period of time before pregnancy. Plus, he’s starting to figure out how to crawl now so I have less time to be able to carry him around before I have to start chasing him.

I'm SO not ready for him to crawl...or walk for that matter!

I’m SO not ready for him to crawl…or walk for that matter!

The second exercise I love doing is walking. I’ve started going on walks more frequently lately, due to that nasty heat crap going away (I hate summer!). Fall is my all time favorite time of year. I love the chill in the air, the color changing leaves, and the holidays (THANKSGIVING *drool*). Plus, we got this awesome stroller that the baby absolutely loves. I’m fairly certain this stroller was made with me in mind. I’m 5’11” so with other strollers I have to hunch over a bit, but with this one I can stand up straight with no problem. Seriously people, if you’re in the market for a new stroller, get this one. You won’t regret it (By the way, I’m receiving nothing for saying this. I just love this stroller).

Totally sorry about that stroller excitement, I’ve noticed that since I became a mom I get very excited about strange things. Strollers, car seats, baby shoes, freaking BIBS?! Motherhood makes some weird people (me) even weirder. Back to the topic at hand, exercise, what kind of exercise do you like? Extreme mountain biking? Let me know your thoughts, comments, concerns and questions! See you tomorrow with the topic of the day!

I Wanna Know

Hello again readers! It’s day 2 of the September Blogging Challenge for me (day 23 for people that start these at the correct time) and today’s topic is things I want to learn to do. Again, the list I used can be found here. On with the list…

First, I would LOVE to learn how to read a crochet pattern. I’m amazing at math but for the life of me, I CANNOT figure those stinking things out! Like this one, I have a new love for slouchy hats but I have to buy them because the freaking patterns confuse me! It’s supposedly easy!

Second, I want to learn how to use a sewing machine. I’ve seen so much stuff I want to make but it can only be made with a sewing machine. I have a ton of t-shirts with awesome sayings and high school pride shirts, so I really want to make one of these.

Third, I want to learn how to do more with my hair. I got about 9 inches taken off about a month ago and I have NO idea what to do other than put most of it into a ponytail. It’s at about my chin, it’s naturally curly and thick, and I hate blow dryers. So I’m up crap creek without a paddle, as they say.

That’s about all I want to learn to do. What do you want to learn to do? Skydive? Juggle? It could be anything, just remember that you can do whatever you put your mind and heart into. Stop by tomorrow and see what the list holds.
