Down with the Sickness

This weekend was full of sickness in our house. Little Man started off with a cold, then passed it to Squeaky. Little Man also has a double ear infection (the 5th one of his not even 2 years) and is being referred to the ENT to see what’s going on.

On the good news side of our world, Little Man’s second birthday party is this weekend! We already have everything picked out and we just have some last minute things to buy. He’s having a Cars themed party, he’s going to love it (at least I hope so). A few of his little friends will be there, so we’re making some coloring pages. There will also be bubbles and a road made on the floor to drive cars on. Hopefully that will be enough for the kids, since the ages will range from 1 to 6.

Next month, I’m going to start a program to get me into shape before my husband and I go to the Philippines next January. I’m not sure what program I’ll do, but I’m googling. Google is basically my best friend. I haven’t started my bullet journal yet, I have so much going on that I haven’t gotten around to setting it up. Hopefully I’ll be able to sometime before March starts.

That’s all I’ve got for now. How’s life for you? Let me know! See you soon!

This Is It…

Wow! So I have been gone for quite a while, but I have good reasoning! We have no WiFi as of right now, so I’m hurrying to type this using my mobile data. Also, Squeaky was born! His birth story will be posted later at some point. He’s doing great though and Little Man is adjusting very well (better than I thought he would) to having a little brother and we’ve been able to keep our daily routine about the same (luckily).

Little Man still goes to school on a daily basis. His teething hasn’t eased much since November, but I’ve figured out why. He has about 8 teeth trying to come in at the same time, they’re all about halfway in and his mouth looks so weird. Any time he’s talking and I see his molars, I still think he has something in his mouth even though it’s just teeth. He’s learning more words and remembering people very well. His second birthday party is at the end of this month, so I’m currently working on planning that.

I have been busy, considering I have a toddler and a newborn now. For some reason that I’m sure I’ll regret later, I decided to hand make the invitations to Little Man’s birthday party. His grandma has volunteered to buy the decorations and his great aunt is making the cake. I can’t wait to see it all together.

Squeaky is 7 weeks old today. He’s gained more weight than needed so that’s great. His only issue right now is sleeping in his own bed, but he’s starting to sleep there more. I just need to figure out the perfect time after he’s asleep to lay him in his bed.

I’m going to try to post weekly, since I’m going to be starting a bullet journal. I’ll be back next week (hopefully)!

4 Minutes

In case you haven’t noticed, all (except like 2) of my post titles are song titles or lyrics. This is the Madonna/Justin Timberlake song, not that new crappy song by Rihanna, Kanye, and Paul McCartney titled FourFive Seconds. Honestly, that title makes no sense! I feel like they were gonna tell someone they’d be there in four seconds but they changed their minds mid sentence, “Give me four-five seconds.” I’m not a huge fan of any of the people in that song anyway (not even Paul McCartney, yell if you must about him being a Beatle and how their music impacted music as it is today. blah blah blah.) Sidenote: 4 Minutes by Madonna and Justin Timberlake is now stuck in my head.

Now that that rant is over, I’ll update now. Little Man turned 1 on Tuesday, we had his birthday party on Saturday. I got everything I wanted to get done done, but we didn’t have much of a turnout. We invited about 70 people and of the 50 that told me they’d be there, only about 20 showed up. This year, I’ll deal with it but next year, I’m not putting up with people saying they will be there and not showing up. Little Man will be able to understand people not coming next year and I don’t plan on disappointing my child at an early age. He’s a curious little booger so I know he will ask who is coming to his party, and I don’t plan on lying to him either. That’s terrible. I’ll post pictures of the party in a later post, I didn’t get any since I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to make everyone feel welcome.

Now that the birthday party is over, I can finally relax and not be so frazzled and worrisome about it. I don’t need to plan anything for a little while and it’s going to be great.

Today, Little Man and I are starting a new schedule. I made the mistake of letting him fall asleep nursing and that’s what he’s been doing for naps. After his 1 year checkup in a few days, I’m going to start weaning so I decided to get him used to napping without nursing. It worked out for the nap he’s taking right now, he only cried for about 20 minutes. I’ll have to wait and see if it works for his afternoon nap. During his morning nap time, I’m going to write blog posts and during his afternoon naps, I’m going to watch Netflix. I’m stuck in season 3 of Fringe plus there are SO many shows I want to watch!

How is March going for you so far? Let me know in the comments or check out the contact page to email me! See you tomorrow!

Waiting All Day For Sunday Night

SUPER BOWL! Just kidding, we’re not big sports fans here. We tend to watch Mythbusters and Ancient Aliens over football and basketball. If I was actually able to be at the game, then I’d definitely be there. There’s just something awesome about being at a sporting event live that watching it on tv just doesn’t deliver.

While most of the population was watching pregame shows and such, my family was at a birthday party. Two of my friends from when we were teenagers (who also had babies a month before I did) had their babies’ birthday party today and it was awesome! Little Man played with everyone and crawled everywhere, Poopyhead talked to everyone, and I got to catch up with some old friends. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing each other more often despite living an hour apart. Once the weather starts to warm up and stay warm, I’m sure we’ll be going to parks every week or something.

I just realized that I got a total of ZERO pictures at the birthday party! Ugh. Little Man looked adorable, as usual, and passed out as soon as we got home. What did you do for Super Bowl Sunday? Did the team you like win? Let me know! See you all later!

Crazy

You’d think I’m insane with how much I’ve decided to DIY for my son’s first birthday party and you, my friend, might be right. Luckily, we’ve decided on a set theme, reserved the venue, and sent out the invitations already.
When I went to my niece’s birthday party, my sister’s friend had made a personalized onesie for my niece that I was completely inspired by for my son. So my husband and I set out on a quest to find a How To Train Your Dragon fabric that we liked and wasn’t $15 a yard. Thank goodness for ebay! But my husband ordered 2 yards! What the heck was I supposed to do with 2 yards of fabric when I would barely use one?! I’m already personalizing 2 shirts (one for Little Man to wear and one for guests to sign as a keepsake)and making Little Man a cape (yes, a cape!). I then found a tutorial on Pinterest (darn that website) on how to make an infinity scarf with half a yard of fabric, so guess who will be wearing a How To Train Your Dragon infinity scarf to her one year old’s birthday party. That’s right! Me! And I’m completely and totally excited about it!

Our fabric!

Our fabric!

I’ve realized that I’m not the typical mom. Most moms freak out about their child turning one already and while I still can’t believe he’ll be one soon, I love seeing him grow, advance, and learn everyday. Little Man will sit and study new things as long as you let him. That’s how I got him to start taking a sippy cup, I handed it to him with a bit of water in it (thank goodness it’s spill proof) and let him figure it out. He now drinks out of it whenever it’s not time to nurse.

Yes, I am still nursing my 10 month old. When I found out I was pregnant with him, I knew I would breastfeed if I was able. I may start weaning him when he hits a year old, but I haven’t decided for sure yet. I know I’m one of the lucky women being able to nurse my son at all, let alone this long.

People have been asking me this week what I’ll be doing for the Super Bowl. My honest answer is I have no clue. We’re not big sports watchers in our house, but if a friend invites us over for a party or something we’ll probably go. We like spending time with friends, even if we have no idea what’s happening in the game. However, early that afternoon Little Man and I have a birthday party to attend that is an hour away so hopefully the snow that is being predicted on Sunday isn’t too bad. I’ve been super excited for this party since we got the invite.

What do you have going on in your life? If you have kids, what did you do for their first birthday parties? If you don’t have kids, have you been to any first birthday parties? Did anything hilarious or exciting happen at the parties? What are you doing for the Super Bowl? Let me know! I’ll see you all later!

Remember December

It’s December folks and we all know what that means…every store you go into will be PACKED with people who refuse to shop the other 11 months of the year.

We had to go to the mall but like smart people, we waited until this past Saturday. We knew it would be a little full but hoped that the people would be spread out enough to move…thank goodness we were right…except for that line to see Santa. UGH! Good news though! We got a tie and socks to finish out Little Man’s Christmas suit! He will look awesome! By the way, Party City had NO How To Train Your Dragon decorations so now Little Man’s birthday party theme is unknown.

Over the last few days, my super photogenic Little Man has NOT wanted his picture taken. I think he got sick of it with a million cameras flashing in his face on Thanksgiving. Here are some atrocities I have captured…

He looks like he's asleep but this is an hour after he woke up...

He looks very mad...

Then on Sunday, we decided we would finally take some pictures for a Christmas card (we’re a bit late I know). At first, Little Man was cooperating, then we ended up with pictures like this…

Yesterday, Little Man decided he would let me take adorable pictures again.

We went shopping and he got this ADORABLE new bear that he absolutely LOVES. The bear’s name is Snowby and he shivers when you touch his nose (Little Man knows this and when I ask what Snowby does, he touches Snowby’s nose and giggles). He came with a storybook that tells about why he shivers and it’s just downright adorable!

As for my husband and I, we have a fancy dinner/Christmas party thingamajig to go to on Saturday. We’ll get all dressed up, leave Little Man with a sitter, go to a country club that we would never step foot in on a normal day, and watch people drink crazy amounts of alcohol while we eat some okay tasting food. Sounds like an awesome time, right? HA! But this year I’m way more prepared than I was last year. See, last year I was about 6 months pregnant at this party and wore the only dress I owned that fit…a sweater dress. When we got to the party, the women were wearing gowns…yes, GOWNS…like you’d wear to prom (the long kind not those short skimpy things that teenagers nowadays try to pass off as a gown but it barely covers anything). This year, I emailed the lady who organized the party and asked if the dress code was the same and she told me yes, so I went and got this really pretty cobalt blue dress that comes a bit past my knee (which is AWESOME since I’m 5’11”) and gold sparkly flats. I’m probably a bit more excited than I should be, but oh well. I’ll post pictures after the party at some point.

I totally forgot to mention Disneybound December (if you don’t know what Disneybounding is, click here)! I’ve been working on this since October and finally decided on what would happen. I decided Little Man will be the only one to Disneybound, since he has a million pieces of clothing in every color imaginable. But then I realized that there was really no point in getting him dressed in normal clothes if we weren’t going anywhere, so he’ll only be Disneybounding when we go somewhere. Luckily, December is the busiest month of the year for us, so he’ll be doing a lot.

I was going for Mufasa...

I don’t have a set schedule yet, but I’ll post it as soon as I do! I’ll be going now, see you back here later!
